  • Salt
  1. Moscow Mule with Smoked Campfire

This simple classic gives the traditional Moscow mule you know and love a sweet and smoky twist. No shaker is necessary, and copper cups are not required (but very fun)

What is required

  • 2 oz. vodka, preferably Tito’s
  • 1/2 cup of ginger beer (We love Fever-Tree and Q Ginger Beer, both of which come in small bottles for easy transport.)
  • a teaspoon of lime juice
  • 1 wedge of lime
  • A dash of salt
  • Ice
  • Toasted marshmallows that you like

Direction

  1. Put ice in a copper mug and combine vodka and ginger beer.
  2. After adding lime juice, mix.
  3. The marshmallows should be toasted until they are golden, brown, or black. You select! Then use them as a garnish by placing them on the mug’s side (and enjoy).

2. Traditional Hipcamp-arita

This camping beverage, which is our own take on the traditional margarita, will satiate you after a strenuous day of outdoor exploration. Prepare to relax in your hammock with this delicious summertime cocktail!

What is required

  • Tequila, 1.5 oz (we recommend Ocho Reposado)
  • 0.5 ounce Pear brandy CapRock
  • 0.5 ounces of simple syrup or agave nectar
  • 0.7 ounces of lime juice (one half lime)
  • A dash of salt
  • Tajin Classic seasoning, a pinch
  • Hibiscus powder in a pinch

Directions

  1. Combine tequila, brandy, agave nectar, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously after adding ice.
  2. Use a mixture of salt, Tajin Clásico seasoning, and hibiscus powder to rim an eco-friendly cup.
  3. Pour the shaker’s contents into the cup with a rim.

3. Pinecone Punch for Campers

The delicious and fragrant Camper’s Pine Cone Punch is a terrific make-ahead camp cocktail that is cooling with a bite and ideal for summer. Alternately, make a moody dark and stormy with the dark rum (mix it with ginger beer and ice).

What is required

  • 6 ounces Dark rum by Goslings
  • 2 ounces of liqueur from Clear Creek Distillery
  • Unsweetened pineapple juice in 8 ounces
  • A dash of salt
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Rum, liqueur, and pineapple juice can be combined and stored in a sealed container or combined and shaken gently in a drink shaker. Keep chilled until you’re ready to serve.
  2. Stir the mixture once more, then pour over ice to serve after storing.

4. A Hot Toddy for Winter Hikers

This pre-made camp cocktail is ideal for winter hikers and backpackers and will keep you warm by the fire or while out on the route.

What is required

  • boiling water, 6 ounces
  • High West Campfire whiskey, 1.5 ounces
  • 1 ounce of honey, tasted
  • Lemon juice, 1 ounce
  • 1 round of lemon
  • 1 cinnamon stick is optional as a garnish.

Directions

  1. Pour the boiling water into a mug or thermos.
  2. Stir in the whiskey, honey, and lemon juice after adding them.
  3. In case you’re using a cup and want to be fancy, garnish with the lemon round and cinnamon stick. If you’re heading out on the trail, add a pinch of cinnamon to the thermos!

5. Orange Hot Chocolate for Cold Weather Campers

You can choose to omit the alcohol for a simple non-alcoholic camp cocktail that can warm your soul on those chilly camp nights. This camp drink warms you from the inside with undertones of cocoa and lemon. Prepare it at camp or at home in advance!

What is required

  • Grand Marnier orange liqueur with cognac, 2 oz.
  • Orange juice spill
  • 2 cups whole milk or another milk substitute
  • Sugar, 4 tablespoons
  • Cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons
  • zest of half an orange

Directions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk.
  2. As the cocoa heats, add the sugar and stir until well blended.
  3. Cognac and orange juice are added. Pour into mugs after stirring to mix.
  4. Add orange zest as a garnish before serving.

6. Manhattan backpackers

You can make this chic option for a campfire gathering in preparation and then pour it into a flask or other portable container for a tasty off-the-grid treat with a kick.

What is required

  • Rye whiskey, 2 oz.
  • Sweet vermouth, 1 ounce
  • Angostura bitters in two dashes
  • 2 dashes of pepper bitters are optional.

Directions

  1. For optimal dilution, combine all the ingredients in an eco-friendly cup, add the ice, and whisk 35 to 40 times.
  2. Strain into a flask to save for later.
  3. You’re now ready to set off into the vast wilderness. Depending on the size of your flask, double the recipe.

With these materials plus a few extra items from home, you can still have fantastic mixed drinks over the fire on your next camping trip even if you don’t have a full bar (or kitchen) with you.
